MANR: the First Two Weeks

Posted by: MANR on April 14, 2011

I apologize for many, many recent unreturned emails. In the two weeks since launching Music as a Natural Resource, we have had a fantastic response and an overwhelming number of communications from hundreds of friends and supporters.  Thank you all for your interest.  I hope to get back to everyone shortly.

There has been so much activity that there has been little time to report on our progress. So, here is the update:

Music as a Natural Resource is now established as a not for profit corporation in New York State. We will be announcing new members to our Board and Advisory Board shortly.

We have launched new partnerships with Musicians Without Borders , the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus and Consumer Electronics Association.

Our first fundraiser event will take place the evening of July 20th, 2011 in New York City. The iconic jazz guitarist Pat Martino will host a master class for 10 fortunate guitarist. Contact info@musicasanaturalresource.com for more information.

MANR’s survey of worldwide practices: “Music as a Natural Resource
Compendium”, will be published in its 2nd, expanded edition in September 2011. The current edition of the survey can be downloaded for free from the United Nations Public Administration website.  A quick glance at the Table of Contents will give you an overview of the breadth and depth of the project.  Download the Compendium in .pdf format here.

In 2012 we will be launching a series of international, live multi-media
concert events showcasing innovative Music as a Natural Resource projects.
Events are being planned in several regions: Africa, Middle East, Caribbean and China.

Also, a Facebook page and group have been created to facilitate community dialogue. You can also check out the MANR company page on Linkedin and follow us on Twitter.  The MANR video is now up on the United Nations Public Administration Network, YouTube channel. It has been a fantastic two weeks. Thank you again for your support.
